When I had my pastel beach birthday in Boracay last year, little did I know that the next would be farther from home. Celebrating my 24th birthday in Oman with the family is a memory worth keeping.
In case you’re not aware, I always celebrate my birthday with a theme every year. The tradition started on my 20th birthday when I first attempted to pull off a tea party. I liked the idea so I always try to come up with something every year to make the celebration cute, fun and memorable. The main highlights of my birthday are the candy buffet or cutesy giveaways.
I had little time to plan since we just moved to Oman and I’ve been busy fixing my site. I had to come up with something quick and easy so I thought of Oreos and Kisses party theme. You may be wondering why I choose it and what’s the significance of it. Well, when I was building this site, I spent most of my time in front of the computer while munching (yes you guessed it) Hershey’s Kisses and Oreo cookies.
I don’t know if it’s just me but sweets help me think. I consider sweets, chocolates in particular, as my creativity boosters. I love chocolates and I can’t bear to imagine a world without it. I hope I wouldn’t have to watch over my sugar level just yet. Chocolates are so irresistible!
This is by far the easiest theme to pull off because all I need are bunch of Oreo packs and Kisses chocolates (which we already have at home). I started off by making a unique Oreo tower cake.
This one of your best options if you’d like to build a cake without baking. All you need are Oreo cookies and steady hands. Lol.
I also prepared Oreo and Kisses recipes which I’m happy to share in my future posts. You can also find a bunch of recipes online for more ideas.
I like spending my birthday with family and closest friends. I find small intimate gatherings more special because my attention is focused on the people I love most. I’m able to spend quality time with them and share stories/jokes I don’t always get to tell them.
Me, my family, together with Mum’s friends had a lovely celebration at Juweira Resort Salalah. I appreciate my mum’s effort for making it memorable for us (me, grandma and little sis). We had fun swimming in the pool, on the beach and savoring a fine birthday dinner at As Sammak Restaurant.
It’s surprising how much change can happen within a year. I went through a lot of major life changes since last year. Now that I’m 24, I expect more changes will come.
I feel blessed for having a loving family and friends who care even if I’m away. I’m grateful for reaching this age and for having the opportunity to see this part of the world. I guess I’ve nothing more to ask for than keeping me, my family and friends in good health.
I hope to achieve my goals of exploring more places and spreading creativity. I’m pretty far off but I believe everyday is a day closer to achieving my dreams. While I’m getting there, here I am continuing to pray and doing things that take me closer to where I should be.
