Heading on to the the beautiful islands of Honda Bay was my favorite part of our entire Palawan trip. We only had a few hours to explore the islands but the experience was great. We went to Honda Bay port around 8 AM and rented a boat. Our flight is 2 PM so we had to be back before lunch time. It’s a very short time but we don’t want to miss it.
If there’s one thing I’m very excited about this island hopping tour it’s snorkeling. We rented snorkeling gears from the port and hopped into our boat. We aim to visit at least three islands with the little time we had.
Luli Island
We passed along Luli Island, a combi name for “Lulubog-Lilitaw”. The locals called it such because the island tends to appear and disappear every changing tides.
Starfish Island
Starfish island is our first stop. We spotted starfish almost everywhere on the beach. They look amazing and they’re very harmless.
The island is a perfect area to spot and collect sand dollar. If you’re not aware what a sand dollar is, it’s a starfish sea shell shaped like a coin.
Oh look how gigantic this starfish is!
Kidding! This is their actual size.
The tour guides took our group photos. They’re actually good at it. They even instructed us how to strike poses. 😀
We snorkeled around the area and saw magnificent array of colorful fish including clown fish, sword fish and parrot fish. I love to get myself a parrot fish. No, I won’t do it in an island hopping tour because it’s not allowed.
Pandan Island
Pandan island is one of the most visited in Honda Bay. The waves in this area is moderate so it’s ideal for swimming and snorkeling. We swam for a while but as much as we love to stay, we had to proceed to our next destination.
Cowrie Island
Our last stop is Cowrie Island. A large “Cowrie” sign welcomed us upon arriving. The island is named after Cowrie shell.
Along the stretch of sand are nipa huts and tropical trees. The area is secluded and has a perfect tropical setting. If only we could stay long I love to spend a day here.
The island restaurant offers a lunch buffet. If you want to distress, you can either swim or enjoy a relaxing massage on the beach.
One of my favorite highlights was when locals including out tour guide built this sand art for us. Sweet isn’t it?
Seeing the beautiful islands of Honda Bay is truly rewarding. In spite of the little time we had to explore we were mesmerized by the beautiful beach and rich diversity of marine life. If I come back I’ll make sure I have more time to see the other beautiful islands.
