vigan bucketlist

I’ve always wanted to experience Vigan like a local – see the old spanish houses, try their food and take photographs in Calle Crisologo.

This year, I took a long commute from Pampanga to Vigan to experience the timeless place myself.

I wanted to make my Ilocos trip worthwhile. Before travelling, I made my own list of things to do in Vigan. With the help of research, I was able to complete my Vigan bucket list.

If you’re planning to visit Vigan and Pagudpud, I suggest make your own list too. Otherwise, use the list I have here or read my Vigan blog series. 🙂

1) See Calle Crisologo at night

Nothing beats the cold night breeze while walking along the famous Crisologo street. The old houses lighted by the ambient street lights create a peaceful, intimate setting. Passing the old villas is fascinating rather than scary. It’s like walking the streets 400 years ago. I took a photo to preserve that memory.

2) Photograph Calle Crisologo in the morning

Early morning is the perfect time to catch Crisologo street uncrowded (unless it’s raining of course). Strive to wake up early and enjoy taking many photos as you can. Calle Crisologo gets busy around 9AM.

3) Try the Famous Vigan Empanada

You were never in Vigan if you haven’t tried this one! It’s a crunchy and tempting specialty dipped in vinegar. It tastes terrific.

4) Try Vigan Longganisa with Egg

I love Longsilog. It’s great to try it with Vigan’s longganisa. What makes it special and unique is its natural taste unlike typical sweet longganisas.

5) Visit antique shops

Never leave without visiting antique shops in Vigan City. Calle Crisologo is a good place to start. Who knows, you might find yourself a great buy.

6) Make pots at  Burnayan Pottery

Pot making is one of my favorite experiences in Vigan. It’s not everyday we learn to make pots on our own. This is definitely a unique and must-try experience.

7) See Bantay Bell

Don’t miss to see the monumental Bantay Bell tower. The church and its bell tower is believed to be the oldest structures in the city.

8) Meet the animals of Baluarte

Immerse yourself with Baluarte’s numerous colorful birds, big cats, scary reptiles and little ponies. Plus, take photos beside these humongous Dino statues.

9) Visit Local Museums and Historical Houses

Some of the museums you can visit in Vigan are the Crisologo Museum, Syquia Mansion and Padre Burgos House.

10) Explore the Hidden Garden

See a range of plants and beautiful Landscapes. Take a photo in the stunning garden or buy plants.
I had a great time ticking every item in my Vigan bucket list. It helped me spend a worthwhile trip. Do you have other Vigan activities in mind? What’s in your list? I’d like to know. Share it below. 🙂
