As a true-blue local of the country’s culinary capital, I often assume to have tasted the best of Philippine flavors. Unquestionably, Kapampangans are great cooks — which is why I don’t explore much on food when visiting other places in the Philippines. If I want great food, I find it here in Pampanga.
But even with my full trust in Kapampangan cooking, it doesn’t mean that I’m not open to explore other tastes. I am aware that other provinces have their own kicks as well. If it sounds different, I am more likely to go for it. (It’s a little hard to be a picky eater isn’t it?)
During our Puerto Princesa trip, I have heard of this famous Crocodile Sisig. It interests me because Sisig is known to be a Kapampangan specialty. Discovering that Palawan has its own version urged me to try it.
My verdict, it doesn’t taste far different from the usual sizzling sisig but it’s special because it’s made of crocodile meat. It still tastes good and gave me a satisfied tummy. If you like exploring new food, give it a burl.
We also tried one of the City Baywalk’s best selling seafood, the grilled Unicorn fish. It has the similar taste of Tilapia but softer to eat. It perfectly matches warm rice and soy sauce. Add some pork barbecue and you’re set to dig in. Oh the refreshing island life!
