Lolita fashion is a fashion subculture brought by the Japanese during the 1980’s. It is primarily inspired by the Rococo and Victorian clothing. It had greatly evolved and appealed to young ladies, not only in Japan but all over the world. Teen girls (including me) are hooked with the cuteness and exquisiteness that Lolita fashion possesses.
There are different types of lolita fashion:
- Aristocrat (Elegant Gothic Aristocrat or EGA)
- Casual Lolita
- Classic Lolita
- Cosplay Lolita
- Country Lolita
- Ero Lolita
- Gothic Lolita
- Guro Lolita (Grotesque Lolita)
- Hime Lolita
- Kodona
- Kuro Lolita
- Punk Lolita
- Sailor Lolita
- Shiro Lolita
- Sweet Lolita
- Wa Lolita
Bell-shaped skirts, petticoats, frills, decent fabrics, and bows– these are what Lolitas wear. While lolita is considered a fashion, some make it a lifestyle. There are more reasons to appreciate it aside from the clothing. The true happiness is not found in the clothes, the styles nor the culture alone. Lolita fashion catches the hearts of young ladies because it brings fulfillment and encourages self appreciation.
Lolita encourages self-improvement and I believe this is true. Fashionable girls love to be stylish in every possible way. As a fashion girl, I like lolita because it brings a different charm and elegance. This fashion personally allows me to express the doll within. It will make you look good and feel great no matter what shape or size.
Lolita is more than just a fashion but a world where young ladies could place their hearts into. It is being able to be happy and satisfied with your self. It’s when a girls stares at the mirror, with her frilly handsomeness in front of her, she can proudly say to herself, “I’M BEAUTIFUL”.
